Heavy rain with lightning likely in five provinces today
KATHMANDU:- The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division has reported that the country is currently experiencing the partial influence of both monsoon winds and westerly winds. The monsoon trough is situated south of its normal position. Additionally, a low-pressure area that developed over the North Andaman Sea and its vicinity has now moved to the central-eastern Bay of Bengal; this system is expected to intensify further and move in a west-northwesterly direction in the coming days.
Currently, the weather is generally cloudy in the mountainous and hilly regions of the country, including Koshi Province, while the remaining Terai regions are experiencing weather ranging from mainly clear to partly cloudy. Light to moderate rain accompanied by lightning is occurring in a few places across the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.
This afternoon, skies will be generally cloudy in the mountainous and hilly regions of the country, while the Terai regions will experience partial cloudiness. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by lightning in some places across the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in a few places within the mountainous and hilly areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Additionally, light to moderate rain with lightning is likely in a few places across the Terai regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, and in one or two locations within Madhesh Province and the Terai regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
There is a possibility of heavy rain in one or two places in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.
Tonight, generally cloudy conditions are expected in the Himalayan regions of the country—including Koshi and Madhesh provinces—and the hilly regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces; meanwhile, the hilly regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces and the remaining Terai areas will experience partly cloudy skies. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by lightning in a few places across the Himalayan and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in one or two locations within the Himalayan and hilly regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
