Government, Victims’ Families Sign Seven-Point Agreement on Sunsari Incident
Under the agreement, the government has committed to immediately begin the process of declaring the two victims as martyrs and provide 1 million rupees in relief to each bereaved family.
KATHMANDU:- The government and the families of Om Prakash Mehta and Jay Prakash Mehta, who were killed in the July 26 incident at Kaptanganj in Devangunj Rural Municipality of Sunsari, have signed a seven-point agreement.
Under the agreement, the government has committed to immediately begin the process of declaring the two victims as martyrs and provide 1 million rupees in relief to each bereaved family.
It has also pledged to conduct an impartial investigation into the incident, take legal action against those found responsible, and investigate the legal status of the madrasa in Devangunj-3.
Likewise, one qualified member from each of the two bereaved families will be provided with employment, and a memorial park will be constructed in coordination with the local government based on the recommendations of the investigation committee.
The agreement was signed by Home Minister Sudhan Gurung and representatives of the victims’ families. The final rites of the two victims are scheduled for later today.
