Four students returning home from school swept away; one safe and one dead, two missing

MAKWANPUR:- Four girl students returning home from school were swept away by a river today. Of them, one has been found safe and one dead.

They were students of Nirmal Secondary School in Bastipur, Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-19, Makawanpur. Two girls are still missing, according to school Principal Prabodh Bidari, who informed the police about the incident.

They were swept away by the Basudev River in Basudev, Hetauda-19, while crossing the river that falls on the road from school. The body of Roshni, the eight-year-old daughter of Deep Syangtang, a resident of Bastipur, Hetauda-19, was found stuck in a tree about 600 meters from the incident site, said DSP Madhav Prasad Kafle, spokesperson of the District Police Office, Makawanpur.

Likewise, Seema Bholan, the 13-year-old daughter of local Sitaram Bholan, was found safe. However, 11-year-old Sumitra Bholan and 12-year-old Binita Bholan are still missing and a search operation is underway for them, police said.

As soon as the information about the incident was received, a police team from the Area Police Office, Newarpani, was deployed to the scene.

A team from the Armed Police Force and another from the Nepal Army in the Bagmati Province Disaster Management Group have also been deployed for search and rescue of the missing students.
