LONDON:- The Federation of Nepali Journalists UK (FNJ-UK) marked its 14th anniversary with a special event in Aldershot on Sunday.

The ceremony was jointly inaugurated by Nepali Ambassador to the UK, Gyan Chandra Ghimire, FNJ Central Chair Nirmala Sharma, and FNJ-UK Chair Bimala Sene. During the event, senior journalist and former BBC Nepali chief Khagendra Nepali was honoured with the “Journalism Honour 2025,”  presenting him 251 Pound Sterling, a shawl, and a certificate in recognition of  his five-decade contribution.

Chair Sharma emphasised unity in journalism and highlighted challenges in Nepal’s media, including financial struggles and threats to press freedom. She encouraged UK-based journalists to bring back valuable skills to Nepal.

Ambassador Ghimire urged Nepali journalists to engage with British mainstream media and strengthen Nepal-UK relations through journalism. FNJ-UK President Sene thanked all supporters and called for unity within the community. A documentary highlighting 14 years of branch activities was also presented on the occasion.

The programme concluded with FNJ-UK’s general assembly, and a felicitation of Chair Sharma.
