Employment providers instructed to fully comply with social security related provisions

KATHMANDU:- The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security has urged entire employment providers to fully comply with all the provisions related to minimum wage and social security in line with the Labour Act, 2074 BS and other concerned prevailing laws.

Issuing a statement today, the Ministry has instructed all the concerned establishments, institutions and stakeholders to proactively comply with the laws asserting that action would be taken against those found denying facilities including minimum wage in accordance with the law.

According to Clause 18 (3) of the Labour Act, 2074, a clear legal provision is specified obligating employers to provide individuals engaged as trainees with facilities in a way that does not reduce social security benefits such as minimum wage, sick leave, allowances, provident fund, and insurance.

“The ministry has received complaints and grievances from health workers/nursing staff working as trainee in various hospitals and health institutions, teachers and staff of private and public schools, as well as individuals working in various other establishments, regarding not receiving the stated minimum wage and other benefits”, the release stated.

This issue has drawn the serious attention of the ministry, it is noted. (RSS)
