ECN grants permission to 31 organizations to observe upcoming HoR elections

KATHMANDU:- The Election Commission of Nepal (ECN) has aurthorized 31 different organizations to observe the House of Representatives (HoR) elected slated to take place on coming March 5, 2026.

The Commission has approved 27 national and 4 international organizations to monitor the upcoming elections.

The ECN, a constitutional body responsible for conducting and monitoring elections, had called for applications from those willing to observe the HoR elections.

The Commission had received altogether 44 applications from national organizations and five from international organizations, said Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, Joint-Secretary of the Commission as well as Spokesperson.

Bhattarai shared that the organizations which met the criteria and completed the necessary procedures outlined in the Election Observations Guildelines-2079 BS were granted permission.

He further mentioned that those organizations failing to produce necessary papers and comply with the procedures have been asked to do the needful within five days.

The Commission, he added, then will look into those applications and decide accordingly.

It may be noted that the interim government formed in the wake of Gen-Z movement on September 8 and 9 this year and led by Prime Minister Sushila Karki is mandated to hold the parliamentary election on March 5 next year.
