CoAS Sigdel directs security agencies for safe conduct of HoR elections

KATHMANDU:- Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Ashok Raj Sigdel has directed the Nepali Army (NA) to coordinate efforts with other security agencies and stakeholders to ensure that the upcoming election is conducted in a safe and secure manner.     

The election to the House of Representatives is scheduled for coming March 5.

Addressing the closing session of the Divisional Commanders’ Coordination Meeting at the Army Headquarters on Wednesday, the Army Chief instructed officials to get mobilized in a coordinated way in line with the Integrated Election Security Plan-2082 BS, according to the NA’s Directorate of Public Relations and Information.

In his address, the Army Chief underscored maintaining unity, collective spirit among all ranks while discharging respective responsibilities.

He also acknowledged the effective performance of the divisional commanders at the divisional level and thereby applauded them.

During the meeting that kicked off on Tuesday, the participants reviewed the current security situation, assessed the ongoing training and other logistic preparation regarding the upcoming elections, said the Directorate.

Furthermore, they deliberated on other contemporary issues. Present on the closing session were high-ranking officials of the NA including Chief of General Staff and Lieutenant General among others.

NA personnel will be deployed for election security.(RSS)
