Administration urges indoor holi celebration, avoid use of political symbols

KATHMANDU:- The District Administration Office Kathmandu has urged the public to celebrate Holi indoors this year, keeping in mind peace, security and the upcoming elections.

In a notice, the office said people may celebrate Holi with family and friends at home in a religious and cultural manner. However, it asked the public to avoid crowding, organising fairs and public events, and consuming or distributing alcohol in open and public places.

The administration stressed strict compliance with the election code of conduct in view of the March 5 House of Representatives election.

In the notice issued by Assistant Chief District Officer Mukti Ram Rijal, it is stated that caps, T-shirts, jackets, bags or other materials carrying election symbols, flags or stickers of candidates must not be used in processions, gatherings or campaigns during Holi.

The office also warned that forcing colours or water on others, creating public nuisance under the influence of alcohol, and engaging in disorderly activities are punishable by law.
