Action will be taken against culprits of Gen Z movement: PM Karki

KATHMANDU:- Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that actions will be taken against the culprits of the Gen Z movement.

PM Karki said so in her first ever address to the nation made today.

She expressed tribute to those who lost lives during the protest, wished for speedy recovery of the injured while making commitment to providing compensation to the wounded as well.

The government is committed to take stringent legal action against the culprits of the Gen Z movement, she said.

Referring to her talks with the officials of the Election Commission, PM Karki said that preliminary works related to holding the election to the House of Representatives (HoR) on March 5, 2026, have already been initiated.

She said discussions were also held on way to ensure that those Nepali citizens who are abroad can also vote in the election.

She appealed to all including political parties to participate in the HoR election and urged for contribution of all to make a peaceful environment for the poll.

Saying that her interim government was mainly mandated to hold the HoR election, PM Karki said that the government was focused on consolidating federal democratic republic system while preserving sovereignty, national independence and striving for prosperity  and social justice.

She said the government will be strict in ensuring good governance and controlling corruption.
