UML Chair Oli calls for HoR reinstatement

BHAKTAPUR:- CPN (UML) Chair and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has expressed the view that the House of Representatives must be reinstated.

At the programme organised by the Bhaktapur District Committee of UML in Gundu today, Chair Oli said that his party is in favour of the reinstatement of the House of Representatives and expressed confidence that the Nepali Congress would also agree.

He stated that if the government is to hold elections, it must win the confidence of political parties and ensure everyone’s participation in the electoral process.

“At this time, the nation needs unity and stability. Democratic forces must come together to maintain peace and order and make the country prosperous. The government must create a positive and favourable environment for this,” he said.

UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel said that while problems have arisen in the country, there is a need to create an environment of unity and consensus within the country, and disputes should not be created within the party.

Dr Rajan Bhattarai, in-charge of UML Bagmati Province Committee, and Politburo member Mahesh Basnet, among others, expressed that UML should be made a united and strong force for the defence of democracy and the country.

Following the Gen-Z movement on September 8 and 9, a government was formed under the leadership of former Chief Justice Sushila Karki, the House of Representatives was dissolved, and March 5, 2026 has been determined as the date for the election to a new HoR.(RSS)
