Narayangadh-Muglin road blocked after repeated landslides

KATHMANDU:- A series of landslide occurred in the Tuin Rivulet along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section.

The landslides that occurred repeatedly since 6.00 pm Friday have covered around 100-meter section of the road.

According to Narayan Lamichhane, chief of the Division Road Office, Chitwan, landslides that occurred throughout last night have covered about 100 meters of the road.

He informed that the landslide fell from nearly 100 meters above.

Due to continuous landslides, it was not possible to clear the debris during the night. Efforts to remove the debris have begun since early this morning, it is informed.

One loader from each side has been mobilized to clear the depositions blocking the road. Likewise, an excavator has been sent to the landslide-hit site from Seti Dobhan camp, he informed.

The Division Chief estimated that the debris can be cleared off within four hours as the boulders are still rolling down. Road traffic can resume if no further landslides occur, he said.

The road that was repeatedly covered by landslides was cleared off on Friday afternoon to resume traffic operation.

Since the road was blocked after 6:00 pm, passengers have been forced to stay on the road overnight.

The landslide-hit area is 2.5 kilometers away from Muglin towards Narayangadh.
