Nepali kickboxer Ghimire to face French opponent

KATHMANDU:- Nepali kickboxer Abiral Ghimire (Himalayan Cheetah) is set to enter the ring for the first time in the ‘K-1 World Max-2025 Tournament’.

The tournament is being organised by the world-famous club K-1 Group on 7 September at the Yoyogi 2nd Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan. Boxers from China, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Senegal, Brazil, Poland, Armenia, the USA, France, Germany, Russia, and Moldova are competing in the tournament. Ghimire will face off against a French opponent in the first match, and if he wins three matches, he will become the title winner and world number one in kickboxing history.

‘K-1 World Max Tournament’ is considered the highest competition in the field of kickboxing. Abiral is currently practising for the international competition under the special training of his father, former international kickboxer Dev Ghimire, in Japan. Meanwhile, Nepali Ambassador to Japan, Dr Durga Bahadur Subedi, has wished success to the young Nepali kickboxer Ghimire and stated that it is a historic success in itself for Nepali boxer Ghimire to participate in the ‘K-1World Max-2025 Tournament’.

Abiral has participated in 25 international competitions so far, winning 19 of them by knockout. On May 4, 2019, boxer Abiral won the ‘K-1 Cross 175’ title in Osaka, Japan. In a highly competitive competition, he defeated Japanese Kickboxing Champion Oda Jinke in the second round to become the K-1 Cross World Champion. Abiral’s family, residents of Gurjudhara, Balambu, Chandragiri Municipality-12, is currently living in Nagoya, Japan.
