Halted Butwal-Narayangadh road yet to come into operation

NAWALPARASI:- Butwal-Narayanghat road section, which has been obstructed since Monday morning, has yet to resume. The road got disrupted when a landslip occurred in Daunne hill of Tribeni Rural Municipality-2, of Nawalparasai (East) along East-West Highway, triggered by the incessant rainfall.

According to Superintendent of Police Yadav Dhakal of the District Police Office, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East), it is becoming difficult to resume the disrupted road section because of torrential rainfall.

The highway has become slippery on the uphill side due to the rains, along with the landslides, disrupting traffic,” he said.

“The highway has collapsed on the bridge under construction near the Bishwakarma Temple in Daunne, and despite the installation of ‘gravel’ on Monday, traffic has not been smooth.”

The inability to remove vehicles stuck in mud on the road in the Daunne area has created additional problems.

Hundreds of passengers and drivers are now stranded in the middle of the road after the road was blocked for 24 hours.

Landslide occurs now and then, even in little rainfall, because of cutting hills during the expansion of the Butwal-Narayangadh road section.
