Proposal seeking consideration on Federal Civil Service Bill passed

KATHMANDU:- The National Assembly (NA) endorsed a proposal seeking consideration on the Federal Civil Service Bill, 2080.

Today’s meeting of the Upper House unanimously passed the proposal of the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration received with the message from the House of Representatives (HoR).

NA Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal informed that the members willing to put their amendments to the bill can register their proposal at the Legislation Section under the NA.

Presenting the bill earlier, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung clarified the reasons behind enshrining the provision of ‘cooling-off period’ in the bill.

“Through the law, we seek a bureaucracy devoid of self-centered interests as enabling environment to serve own personal interest being not honest to democracy and system is detrimental to good governance practices”, he asserted.

Likewise, the meeting has sent the Water Resource Bill, 2081 to Legislation Management Committee for clause-wise discussion.

The proposal to send the bill received with message from HoR to the Legislation Management Committee was endorsed unanimously.

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka had presented the proposal.

On the occasion, NA Chair Dahal had read out the letter received from the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. He had also informed the Upper House about the matter of the letter relating to the designated portfolio of the Council of Ministers members received.

Likewise, he read out the letter relating to the certification of bill received from the Office of the President.

Next meeting of the NA will take place at 1.15 pm on July 22.(RSS)
