NRNA Americas’ 10th Regional Conference to be held in Canada

LOS ANGELES:- The 10th Regional Conference of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Americas region is scheduled to be held on April 24 and 25, 2027, at the Radisson Hotel in Toronto, Canada. Bhuwan Kharel, the Regional Coordinator (RC) of NRNA Americas, has invited non-resident Nepali activists from around the world to participate in the conference, which is being organized under the theme “Connecting for Prosperity.”

Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has been invited to this conference, which aims to link the capital, knowledge, skills, and technology of Nepalis living abroad with the development of their homeland. Preparations are underway to facilitate direct dialogue between the government and the diaspora, and to hold in-depth discussions on investment opportunities worth approximately 100 million US dollars, collective investment projects, and investment-friendly policies.

Similarly, the effective implementation of Non-Resident Nepali (NRN) citizenship and concerns regarding citizenship by descent have been made key agenda items of the conference. Furthermore, discussions will be held on expanding investments in the agriculture and hydropower sectors, while showcasing the coffee farming initiative launched by NRNs in Aapchaur, Gulmi—which currently covers 1,000 ropanis with a target to reach 5,000 ropanis—as a model of collective entrepreneurship.

The conference has prioritized connecting second-generation Nepalis with the language, culture, and identity of their motherland, as well as transferring expertise and knowledge acquired abroad to Nepal. Additionally, a proposal has been put forward to invest the surplus funds from the conference management into the NRNA Canada’s ‘Nepali Ghar’ project.

Regional Coordinator Kharel has appealed to Nepalis living in Canada, activists in the Americas region, and the Non-Resident Nepali community scattered across the globe to ensure the success of the conference through their active participation.
