RSP directed Khagendra Sunar not to attend any formal program
KATHMANDU:- The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has taken note of the news reports published in the media, the audio materials that have surfaced, and the serious questions raised regarding Khagendra Sunar, a Member of the House of Representatives elected on behalf of the party.
The RSP has stated that issues such as actions undermining the dignity and honor of women—as alleged in the media—along with undue pressure, unwanted threats, and suspicious financial transactions, are serious and sensitive matters.
The party, which remains steadfast in its commitment to the rule of law, good governance, and civic accountability, has made it clear that it cannot treat such allegations against its members or elected representatives—at any level—lightly. The statement notes the party’s zero-tolerance policy regarding any form of abuse against women, violations of official conduct, and criminal offenses.
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has stated that it has directed its Central Disciplinary Commission to immediately initiate an internal investigation to ascertain the facts of the matter. The statement notes that Sunar has been instructed not to participate in any formal events in the capacity of a public official until the investigation concludes, with the aim of ensuring the inquiry remains uncompromised and professional ethics are upheld.
The party has expressed its confidence that, given the seriousness of the issues that have come to light, the relevant state bodies will immediately conduct an independent, impartial, and fact-based investigation. The RSP has pledged its full cooperation with the investigation to be conducted by state agencies.
Reaffirming its commitment to the democratic principle that “no one is above the law,” the RSP has stated that it will take further action in accordance with the law and the party statute, based on the findings from the state’s independent investigation and the party’s internal inquiry.
The party has also pledged not to provide political protection to anyone who violates the law or acts contrary to official conduct.
