11 survivors of avalanche at Mt. Himlung base camp in contact
MANANG:- Eleven people who survived an avalanche at the Himlung Himal base camp in Manang have made contact. Seven individuals from Himalayan Holidays and four from Imagine Nepal have safely established contact.
The District Administration Office, Manang, stated that they were saved because they had descended to the lowest area of ​​the base camp after receiving an early warning about adverse weather. After turning back following the avalanche, they reached Phu village in Narpa Bhumi Rural Municipality on Sunday evening. They were rescued by helicopter.
According to the District Administration Office, 12 people caught in the avalanche remain out of contact. Among the missing are 10 individuals from Himalayan Holidays and two from Imagine Nepal. The bodies of four people who died in the avalanche have been recovered; a rescue team that reached the site on Monday found the bodies of Birendra Gurung and Ghanshyam Rai.
On Tuesday, the bodies were brought to Chame and subsequently transported to the Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu via a Kailash Air helicopter.
Earlier, on Sunday, the bodies of Chhibi Bhote and Pasang Bhote were recovered. The District Administration Office, Manang, stated that both bodies were transported to Kathmandu by helicopter on Monday.
