Tamu Dhee UK provided 13 million rupees in assistance to flood victims
LONDON:- Tamu Dhi UK, a UK-based social organization, is set to provide over NPR 13,111,111 in aid to the victims of the Bhote Koshi floods.
The organization stated that out of the collected funds, NPR 11,111,111 will be handed over to the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund, while the remaining amount—approximately NPR 2 million—will be spent on the direct distribution of relief supplies in the affected areas.
A six-member team led by Chairperson Jumkaji Gurung has already departed for Nepal to hand over relief funds and provide direct assistance.
The team includes Senior Vice-Chairperson Parshu Gurung, Vice-Chairperson Kamal Kone Gurung, General Secretary Dr. Bishal Gurung, Secretary Bimal Gurung, and Mothers’ Group Chairperson Kamala Devi Gurung.
According to General Secretary Dr. Bishal Gurung, upon arriving in Nepal, the team will formally hand over the cheque to Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle and Home Minister Sudhan Gurung.
The organization has clarified that all team members traveled to Nepal at their own personal expense.
Tamudhi UK launched a relief collection campaign immediately following the devastating floods of August 26. Instead of postponing the ‘Nepali Mela’, the organization decided to host the event as a charity fundraiser to support the flood victims and intensified its fundraising efforts.
The organization stated that the funds were raised by combining contributions from its office bearers and members—including those from the 17th Nepali Mela and the Trail Walk charity event held in London last month—with support received from various UK-based organizations and individuals.
Chairman Jumkaji Gurung has expressed his gratitude to all the donors, organizations, and supporters who have voluntarily contributed to the campaign. According to him, as the fundraising drive is still ongoing, the currently announced amount is likely to increase further.
