Major highways blocked in various parts of the country
KATHMANDU:- Floods and landslides have obstructed major highways and road sections across various parts of the country. Reports indicate that roads in several districts of Bagmati and Karnali provinces are either blocked or operating under one-way traffic.
In the Kavre district of Bagmati Province, vehicular movement on the BP Highway has been suspended for a specific period due to the risk of flooding. The official notice outlines the schedule for vehicle operations and mentions that alternative arrangements have been made.
Similarly, the Trishuli-Mailung-Syaphrubesi road section in the Khalte area of Uttargaya Rural Municipality-5, Rasuwa, is completely blocked. It is reported that this obstruction could persist for an extended period. A complete road closure has also been reported on Rasuwa’s main highway, effective until further notice.
In Nuwakot, traffic movement has been disrupted on the Tokha-Chhahare and Pasang Lhamu road sections due to floods and landslides. Reports indicate that the road is completely blocked in some locations.
Similarly, the Prithvi Highway has been affected by landslides at various locations in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality, Dhading. Although the road was completely blocked in some areas, the latest reports indicate that one-way traffic is now moving along certain sections.
The Benighat-Rorang section of the Prithvi Highway has also been affected in Chitwan. Meanwhile, the Arniko Highway is completely blocked due to landslides in the Bhotekoshi area of Sindhupalchok.
Reports indicate that the Karnali Highway is completely blocked by landslides in the Shubhakalika Rural Municipality-1 area of Kalikot.
Due to the road obstruction, travelers are urged to check the latest status of the affected section before setting out and to comply with the instructions of the local administration and traffic police.
