‘Elephants in the Fog’ Premieres; Audience Gives Standing Ovation
KATHMANDU:- The film ‘Tiniharu: Elephants in the Fog’, set to release on Friday, has premiered. The premiere was held on Wednesday at Civil Mall in Sundhara, Kathmandu.
The film received a five-minute standing ovation from the audience at its premiere, where it was highly acclaimed. Viewers at the event—which was organized as a charity screening for the victims of the Bhote Koshi floods—gave the cast and crew a five-minute standing ovation. All proceeds from this special screening have been deposited into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
Directed by Abinash Bikram Shah, the film weaves the story of the marginalized sexual and gender minority community with the metaphor of an elephant. Following the premiere, MP Bidushi Rana remarked that the film was deeply moving. She stated that the film’s story and subject matter are extremely important for the present times and that it is a must-watch for everyone.
The film, which has been screened at major international film festivals—including Cannes—and has even won awards, tells the story of a minority community living in a settlement plagued by the terror of wild elephants.
The film features performances by Gauri Malla, Maotse Gurung, Pushpa Thing Lama, Deepika Yadav, Jasmine Bishwakarma, Alij Ghimire, Mahima Navbag, and Akanksha Karki, among others. It was produced through a collaboration between production companies from Nepal, France, Germany, Brazil, and Norway.
The premiere was attended by prominent figures from various fields and journalists, including actresses Manisha Koirala, Nishkarma Manandhar, Richa Sharma, and Usha Rajak; actors Nazir Hussain and Divya Dev; directors Nabin Subba, Pradeep Bhattarai, and Dipendra Lama; and Member of the House of Representatives and entrepreneur Bidushi Rana.
