Bagmati Chief Minister Kiran Thapa gets vote of confidence
MAKWANPUR:- The newly-appointed Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Kiran Thapa Magar, got the vote of confidence from the province assembly.
In the voting held on Tuesday, Thapa Magar got 57 votes with the backing from ruling partners CPN (UML), Nepali Communist Party and seven province assembly members of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).
Thapa Magar obtained the vote of confidence as per Article 168 (4) of the Constitution of Nepal. Secretary at the Province Assembly Secretariat, Ram Kumar Paudel, said that the province assembly members of the Nepali Congress, Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party and Hamro Nepali Party remained absent at the meeting.
Thapa Magar was appointed the Chief Minister on August 20 with the support of 63 province assembly members. Earlier, ruling partners CPN (UML) and Nepali Communist Party issued whip to their province assembly members to provide the vote of confidence to Thapa Magar.
However, RPP has plunged into dispute over the issue of support to the new chief minister and participation in the government.
Amid internal feuds, 6 province assembly members of the RPP extended the vote of confidence to Thapa Magar, while six others remained absent at the meeting.
