Nine people arrested in connection with three-year-old girl Garima Chaudhary murder case
BARA:- Police have detained nine individuals and are proceeding with an investigation into the incident where a three-year-old girl was found dead in an empty house in Bhaktinagar, Jitpursimara Sub-metropolitan City-1, Bara.
According to a press release issued by the District Police Office, Bara, the girl’s body was found under suspicious circumstances on Bhadra 2. Following the disclosure of the incident, the police stated that they have registered cases regarding kidnapping and hostage-taking, rape, and homicide, and have initiated a thorough investigation.
During the investigation into the incident, the police arrested 24-year-old Purgresh Chaudhary—known as “Progress”—a resident of Jitpursimara Sub-metropolitan City-1, on Bhadra 2. Police stated that a 16-year-old boy was also taken into custody on the same day. Subsequently, expanding the scope of the investigation, the police detained six additional individuals on Bhadra 6.
Those arrested include 50-year-old Indrajeet Chaudhary, 25-year-old Pushpa Chaudhary, 26-year-old Mamata Chaudhary, 45-year-old Sheikh Hasamuddin Alam, 40-year-old Tek Bahadur Thapa Magar, and 33-year-old Nabin BK—a resident of Jitpursimara Sub-metropolitan City-2. Additionally, the District Police Office, Bara, reported that another 14-year-old boy was taken into custody on Bhadra 7, and an investigation has been initiated.
In accordance with legal provisions, the identities of the minors have been kept confidential. Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police Min Bahadur Ghale stated that the arrested individuals are being held in custody and investigated, with the Bara District Court having extended their remand period—initially by four days and subsequently by five days.
The incident involving the girl’s death has sparked widespread outrage and concern in the local area. Police have stated that investigations are ongoing regarding the collection of evidence, the roles of the individuals involved, and the actual cause of the incident.
