Rain disrupts various roads across the country

KATHMANDU:- Due to rainfall, roads in various parts of the country have been obstructed, and restrictions have been imposed on the operation of vehicles at night on certain road sections.

According to data released by Police Headquarters (covering the period up to 6:00 AM today), roads in Kavrepalanchok, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa, Rukum West, Lamjung, Ilam, Nuwakot, and Makwanpur have been affected.

Due to the risk of potential flooding, the operation of all vehicles on the Khurkot–Nepalthok–Katunjebesi road in Kavrepalanchok has been prohibited from 18:00 to 04:00. However, vehicle movement is permitted between 04:00 and 18:00.

Similarly, on the Kanti Lokpath in Makwanpur, the operation of all vehicles has been banned from 17:00 to 05:00 due to rainfall.

On the Tokha-Chhahare road section in Nuwakot, the movement of public and private vehicles—except for those providing essential services—has been prohibited between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM.

It has been announced that the operation of any type of vehicle on this road is banned until further notice. The Mechi Highway is completely blocked at Rajduwali in Ilam Municipality-9 due to an accumulation of mud; an alternative route is reported to be available at the location.

The Arniko Highway has been completely blocked following a landslide at Iku and the subsidence of the road at Liping—both located in Ward No. 2 of Bhote-Koshi Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchok.

The Trishuli-Mailung-Syaphrubesi road section in Ward No. 5 of Uttargaya Rural Municipality, Rasuwa, is also completely blocked after the Trishuli River eroded the roadway at Khalte. Additionally, the Pasang Lhamu Highway is fully obstructed following a landslide that occurred on Thursday afternoon at Syauparking in Ward No. 2 of Gosaikunda Rural Municipality.

The Jajarkot-Dolpa road—part of the Bheri Corridor—has been completely blocked by a landslide at Rijegard Khola in Aathbiskot Municipality-6, Rukum West.

The Besisahar-Manang road in Lamjung is also completely blocked following a landslide at Rambazar in Marsyangdi Rural Municipality-4.

As the risk of landslides and floods persists in areas where roads are obstructed, Police Headquarters has urged the public to travel cautiously after assessing the situation and to use alternative routes where necessary.
