Dr Tuladhar designated Acting Chief Election Commissioner

KATHMANDU:- Election Commissioner Dr Janaki Kumari Tuladhar has assumed the responsibility of Acting Chief Election Commissioner of the Election Commission of Nepal.

Dr Tuladhar follows erstwhile Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari, who retired July 7, due to the age limit of 65.

Though the EC has a provision for five office-bearers including the Chief Election Commissioner, it currently consists of Commissioner Dr Tuladhar and Commissioner Sagun Shamsher JB Rana.

Though the Constitutional Council has recommended Man Bahadur Karki (Morang) as the Chief Election Commissioner and Dr Rajiv Subba (Kathmandu) and Guru Prasad Wagle (Okhaldhunga) as Election Commissioners, they are yet to assume office pending parliamentary hearing.

The parliamentary hearing committee has started the hearing process by inviting complaints against the recommendation of the Council. (RSS)
