BP Highway blocked as flooded streams sweep diversions

BANEPA:- Vehicular mobility along the BP Highway has been prohibited after the road diversion at Chauki Danda and Katunje were swept by the flooded Dapcha and Roshi streams.

The area of Namobuddha municipality and Panauti of Kavrepalanchowk witnessed a heavy rainfall this afternoon leading to swollen streams.

Kavrepalanchowk district police office has said that vehicular movement has been banned considering possible risks following a heavy rainfall in Namobuddha and Panauti area.

The district traffic police said diversions at Chauki Danda and Katunjel were damaged due to flooded Dapcha and Rosi streams.

As the road has been disrupted, vehicles passing through the area has been stopped at Dhulikhel, Kavrebhanjyang, Bhakunde Besi and Mangaltar.

A flood in October 2024 had swept by road sections in different places along the BP highway that links eastern Terai with Kathmandu and many hilly districts. Presently, road repair is going on in four sections in Kavrepalachowk segment and one section in Sindhuli segment.
