Prevention of Money Laundering (Third Amendment) Bill, 2083 passed

KATHMANDU:- A meeting of the House of Representatives held today passed the Prevention of Money Laundering (Third Amendment) Bill, 2083.

The meeting passed the bill with a majority vote after clause-wise discussion on the bill and the response of Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle.

Responding to questions raised in the course of the discussion on the bill, Minister Dr Wagle shared that it was necessary to hold meaningful discussions on how to curb corruption and financial crime.

He shared that 13 agencies have the authority to prosecute money laundering cases and stressed the need to stop financial criminal activities from broad discussion. “We will not be able to exit from the grey list if we misuse the matter like money laundering to fulfil political motives,” underlined Minister Dr Wagle.

Lawmakers—Guru Prasad Baral, Ganesh Bahadur Bishwokarma, Kamal Subedi, Chandeshwor Mandal, Yasuda Kumari Baral, Bharat Bahadur Khadka, Parbati BK, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, Hari Mohan Bhandari and Balawati Sharma took part in the discussion.
