Mechi Highway blocked by floods and landslides: Ilam-Jhapa road completely closed

ILAM:-Traffic movement along the Ilam-Jhapa section of the Mechi Highway has come to a complete halt due to floods and landslides triggered by continuous rainfall.

Vehicular movement has been disrupted after the road was washed away in the Rajduwali area of Ilam Municipality-9 and landslides occurred at various other locations.

Due to the road blockage, passengers traveling from Ilam to Jhapa and from Jhapa to Ilam are stranded on the way, while the transportation of daily necessities has also been affected.

Although the concerned agencies have mobilized dozers and technical teams to clear the road, the landslide removal work is facing difficulties due to continuous rains. The concerned agencies have stated that the road can be put into operation only after the weather improves.

The district administration and security agencies have urged the general public to avoid traveling except for essential work, to travel only after getting information about the road conditions and to exercise special caution in risky areas.
