Music for Peace event held

KATHMANDU:- The Music for Peace program has been held with the aim of spreading the message of world peace.

The program was hosted by Journalists for Justice Nepal at the Russian House in Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu, on Friday. The event was organised to spread the message of peace from Nepal, the country of Gautam Buddha, the propounder of peace, to the world community that the path to peace should be sought through ‘dialogue and negotiations, not war’, said the organization’s president Tikaram Khadka.

Russian House Program Manager Santosh Karki cited music as a powerful medium of cultural dialogue and also noted that the event was considered a symbol of common values, cultural diversity, unity and peace in the context of the 70th anniversary of Russia-Nepal diplomatic relations.

On the occasion, Instrumentalists Adhyay Bhandari, Prateek Dangol and Anush Gandharva performed on the tunes of popular and peace-inspired songs like ‘Resham Phiriri’, ‘Farki Aau’ and ‘Phoolkho Aankhnama’.

Similarly, singer and composer Sagar Adhikari (Sharad) performed ‘Ahangkaar Tutos’ while child artist Adhya Regmi performed Kathak dance. Nine teenage girls from Rukum East, the hotbed of the Maoist People’s War, presented a video message of peace based on the song ‘Phoolkho Aankhnama Phulai Sansar’. RSS
