SC to remain open during election holiday, Writ of Habeas Corpus to be addressed

KATHMANDU:- The Supreme Court will remain open during the three-day election holidays announced by the government starting March 4. The apex court will also stay open on March 8, a public holiday marking International Women’s Day.

According to the Supreme Court administration, services will be provided for a specified period to ensure the continuity of hearings related to writs of habeas corpus.

Supreme Court Spokesperson Arjun Koirala said that during the public holidays, the court will operate from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. The writ of habeas corpus concerns an individual’s personal freedom and fundamental rights, and such petitions are heard even on public holidays.

The Court has urged concerned individuals to seek the service within the designated hours during such public holidays. (RSS)
