10 Days to HoR Elections: EC Urges Local Representatives not to be involved in campaigning

KATHMANDU:- With just ten days left for the March 5 House of Representatives elections, the Election Commission has called on local-level representatives to refrain from participating in election publicity.

The Commission emphasized the need to maintain a free, fair, transparent, fearless, and cost-effective environment for the upcoming polls. It reminded local officials of their responsibility to follow the Election Code of Conduct, 2082 BS, strictly.

The EC has been closely monitoring political parties, candidates, and local representatives for compliance. It expressed concern over complaints that some local officials have been promoting political parties or candidates, which violates the code.

Under the code, local office-bearers may campaign for their parties in areas outside their own constituencies, but using government resources or facilities for this purpose is strictly prohibited.

The Election Commission has therefore warned all local representatives to avoid any activity that contravenes the election code.
