Road mishap in Tamakoshi: Six dead, five injured

KATHMANDU:- Six people died on the spot in the accident, while five others sustained injuries when a bus traveling from Kathmandu to Okhaldhunga met with an accident after plunging into the Tamakoshi River at Tribeni Ghat in Manthali Municipality–6 of Ramechhap district today.

The passenger bus (Province 3–01–005 Kha 9975) fell about 20 meters into the Tamakoshi River at around 10:45 AM on Tuesday.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shailendra Thapa, assistant spokesperson for Armed Police Force (APF), immediately after the accident, a joint team of the Armed Police Force Nepal from Ramechhap, the Disaster Management Base Khurkot, including divers, and Nepal Police was deployed for rescue operations.

Among those killed were two men and four women. The five injured passengers, who have been rescued by police,  have been sent to the District Hospital in Khurkot for treatment.

The exact number of passengers on board the bus has not yet been confirmed.

Rescue operations are ongoing.

For the rescue effort, 10 divers from the Armed Police Force Nepal’s Disaster Management Base in Khurkot, Sindhuli, have been mobilized.
