15 tourists rescued from Hidden Valley in Dhaulagiri trek

MYAGDI:- A team of security personnel today rescued 15 people, including three foreign tourists, who were trapped in the Hidden Valley along the Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek.

Twelve Nepalese and three British tourists were stranded after the trekking route was blocked by snowfall since Monday night. They were trekking from Italian base camp in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-4 in Myagdi to Marfa in Gharpajhong Rural Municipality-2 in Mustang.

Mustang Chief District Officer Bishnu Prasad Bhusal shared that tourists who had come from Hidden Valley were rescued from Batase Danda and brought to Jomsom.

A team of security personnel had been sent to the site on Wednesday after a request came for rescue,” CDO Bhusal said.

British tourists who had gone on a trek through Kathmandu’s Secret Himalaya Trade and Expedition Travel Agency had requested a helicopter rescue through the company on Tuesday evening as they were having difficulty trekking in the snowfall.

Some 15 trained security personnel led by Prashant Bista of the Nepal Army’s High Peak School in Jomsom were mobilized for the rescue operation.
