U-19 Asia Cup: Nepal defeated by Afghanistan

KATHMANDU:- Nepal lost to Afghanistan by 6 wickets in the match held today under the U-19 Asia Cup cricket tournament.     

In its final group stage match under the Group ‘B’ held in Dubai, the UAE today. Afghanistan achieved the victory target of 125 runs set by Nepal in 26.5 overs, losing 4 wickets.

For Afghanistan’s victory, Uzairullah Niazai scored 61 runs while Osman Sadat contributed 28 runs with captain Mehboob Khan remaining unbeaten on 11 runs.

For the bowling side, Nepal’s Abhishek Tiwari took 2 wickets and Bipin Sharma took 1 wicket.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Nepal was all out for 124 runs in 46.4 overs.

Dilsad Ali top-scored with 32 runs for Nepal while Chandan Ram contributed 27 runs and Abhishek Tiwari added 20 runs.

Afghanistan’s Zaitullah Shaheen took 3 wickets while Abdul Aziz and Nuristani Omarzai and Wahidullah Zadran took 2 wickets each.

Nepal is now out of the tournament following today’s defeated, the third consecutive defeat in the tournament. Prior to this, Nepal had lost to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.(RSS)
