Supreme Court orders not to implement decision to recall ambassadors

KATHMANDU:- The Supreme Court has issued an interim order not to immediately implement the decision of the interim government to recall ambassadors.

A joint bench of Justices Sharanga Subedi and Shrikant Poudel today issued an interim order not to implement the government’s decision to recall ambassadors.

Earlier, a single bench of Justice Binod Sharma had sought a written response on the matter. The court issued an interim order today after discussions between both parties and asked not to implement the decision to recall the ambassadors.

Advocate Pratibha Upreti had filed a writ petition, arguing that the government’s decision to recall the ambassador was illegal as there was no scope for a parliamentary hearing when the House of Representatives itself was dissolved and there was no constitutional basis for the appointment of an ambassador.

The government had decided to recall 11 ambassadors and asked them to return by November 6. (RSS)
