Sugarcane farmers paid nearly Rs 2 billion for their crops

MAHOTTARI:- The sugarcane farmers in the district have been paid nearly Rs 2 billion, which was pending for long. They got the payment for their produces supplied to two sugar mills.

The District Administration Office, Mahottari informed that the sugarcane farmers were provided over Rs 1.76 billion for their crops supplied to two sugar mills- Everest Sugar and Chemical Industries at Gaushala Municipality-1 and Siddhibinayak Sugar and Chemical Industries at Gaushala-12. 

The farmers had provided 2.8 million quintals of sugarcanes in the current fiscal year, 2082/83. The payment was calculated and cleared accordingly, according to chief administrative officer Kameshwor Yadav.

However, the grant to be provided by the government to the farmers is yet to be ensured. So, Office of the Comptroller in the district is written for it. The district payment committee wrote to the controller office, informing the due grants of Rs 207 million. 

The payment committee was formed under the chairmanship of chief district officer. The clearance for the cash crops handed over to the mills will be over within this very fiscal year, according to the District Administration Office. (RSS)
