Saudi government grants ‘Amnesty’ to 33 Nepali prisoners

KATHMANDU:- The Saudi Arabian government has granted a ‘general pardon’ to 33 Nepali prisoners serving their sentences in various prisons there. The Saudi government has granted the pardon to these Nepalis on the occasion of the month of Ramadan.

The Government of Nepal, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has issued a statement on Tuesday expressing its heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Saudi Arabian government for granting the royal pardon to Nepali citizens.

The Government of Nepal highly appreciates this kind gesture of the Saudi government and considers it a reflection of the long-standing friendship, goodwill and strong bilateral relations between Nepal and Saudi Arabia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has clarified that the Saudi government granted the pardon to the Nepali prisoner based on a special request made by the Government of Nepal through the Nepali Embassy in Riyadh.

The ministry has stated that the Nepali citizen who received the royal pardon will return to Nepal soon after completing the necessary legal procedures in Saudi Arabia.
