Portugal suspends worker visas: Nepali Embassy request to avoid scams

LISBON:- The Nepali Embassy in Portugal has urged Nepalis living in Nepal and various countries in the Middle East to avoid fraud in the name of work visas.

The embassy issued a statement on Wednesday evening, urging all concerned to exercise caution as the Portuguese government has stopped issuing all types of worker visas except highly skilled ones, effective October 23, 2025.

In the context of information being received about fraud being carried out on the pretext of employing Nepalis in various countries in Nepal and the Middle East in Portugal, the embassy has warned against engaging in such illegal activities and not to participate in them.

The embassy has made it clear that no one will be allowed to come here using such visas, as the current situation of worker visas has been closed, and has requested all concerned to avoid fraud in the name of sending or receiving Portuguese.
