Pay heed to development of education: Leader Dr Koirala

KATHMANDU:- Nepali Congress leader Dr Sekhar Koirala expressed worry that the persons bearing responsibility were ignoring the development of education sector in Nepal.

Addressing a function organized on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Gyanjyoti Women Secondary School here today, leader Dr Koirala said development of education shapes Nepal’s future. Those influencing policy and decision making are yet to realize the fundamental need in education, he blamed.

Schools should not be limited merely to the teaching institutions but also be developed as the centre of community pride and excellence, he said, underscoring the urgency of exploring the potential of Nepal and its people. Capacity building of teachers requires continuous support, according to him.

In his opinion, quality education is ensured once the teachers are capable and paid well.

Educated society counts much, for it works as a foundation of a prosperous country, leader Dr Koirala reminded. He stressed keeping education sector away from political interest.
