KATHMANDU:- Opposition parties, including the main opposition Nepali Congress, have demanded that Prime Minister Balendra Shah clarify his statement regarding the country’s borders in the House.
At the beginning of today’s meeting of the House, after opposition lawmakers rose from their seats, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal gave them time to present their views in the House.
Renuka Kauncha of the Nepali Congress has alleged that the dignity of the House has been undermined by the fact that issues requiring clarification by the Prime Minister in Parliament were instead presented at the party’s general convention.
Dr. Pushpa Raj Kandel of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) also emphasized the need for the Prime Minister to appear in Parliament and clarify statements regarding the border issue. He further alleged that the government had arrested CPN (UML) Vice-Chairman Bishnu Prasad Paudel out of prejudice.
Nepali Communist Party MP Yubaraj Dulal stressed that the government’s efforts should be reflected in strengthening the federal democratic republic. He disagreed with the ruling National Independent Party’s proposal to abolish the provincial assemblies and restructure federalism.
Aren Rai of the Shram Sanskriti Party demanded that the Prime Minister should appear in the House and clarify issues related to nationality.
