Nepal lost to UAE by 4 wickets

KATHMANDU:- Nepal lost to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 4 wickets in the match played under ICC World Cup League-2 today. With this, Nepal ended winless in its fifth triangular ODI series under ICC World Cup League-2.

Prior to this, Nepal had lost to the United States of America by 106 runs and four wickets and suffered a five-wicket defeat to the UAE.

In the match held at the ICC Academy Dubai today, chasing the victory target of 240 runs set by Nepal, the UAE achieved it with five balls remaining, at the loss of 6 wickets.

For the UAE, Mohammad Shahdad contributed the most with 96 runs in 123 balls followed by Mohammad Wasim who scored 76 runs and Sohail Khan scored 29.

For Nepal, Karan KC took three wickets, while Nandan Yadav, Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi and Sandeep Lamichhane took one wicket each.

Earlier, Nepal, elected to bat first after winning the toss, scored 239 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.

Bhim Sarki contributed the most with 48 runs. Similarly, Kushal Malla scored 45, Dipendra Singh Airi scored 37, Asif Sheikh scored 34, Arif Sheikh scored 30 and Sandeep Lamichhane scored 15 runs not out.

For the UAE, Junaid Siddiqui, Mohammad Jawadullah and Dhruv Parashar took two wickets each, while Zahid Ali took one wicket.

With this defeat, Nepal is in seventh place with 12 points from 20 matches. Despite the win today, the UAE is at the bottom of the table with 10 points from the same number of matches. (RSS)
