March 5 HoR  elections: Preparations for filing of nomination papers completed

KATHMANDU:- Preparations for the filing of nomination papers for the March 5 House of Representatives member election have been completed.

The Election Commission has stated that all preparations have been completed at the offices of 88 Chief Returning Officers and 88 Election Officers across the country. The necessary materials to verify whether the candidate’s name is in the voter list have reached all 165 Returning Officers’ offices across the country, the Commission’s Assistant Spokesperson Kul Bahadur GC told RSS.

It may be noted that a provision has been made in the code of conduct that candidates must submit their property details. A candidate must submit 13 types of documents along with his/her nomination papers.

Similarly, the Commission has stated that a nomination form must be submitted by one proposer and one seconder whose names are included in the final voter list of the same constituency as per Rule 8 of the Election Rules for Members of the House of Representatives, 2074 BS, and must be signed by them.

The candidate must submit a sealed statement in the format as per Schedule 9 of Section 21 of the Election Directive for Members of the House of Representatives, 2082, stating the full details of his movable and immovable properties, accounts in banks and financial institutions, securities, shares, debentures, and loans given or taken to anyone.

The personal details form filled in as per Schedule 10 of Section 22 of the Election Directive, 2082, and a certificate of payment made if any type of payment has been received from an elected, nominated or appointed body.

Candidates are scheduled to register their nomination papers at all 165 election officers’ offices on Tuesday from 10 am to 5 pm. The list of candidates will be published from 5 pm to 7 pm the same day.
