Malaysia, Qatar and Saudi tighten visa requirements for Nepalese migrant worker

KATHMANDU:- Countries including Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and others have tightened visa requirements for Nepali workers. The visit and working visas have been tightened in view of the situation arising after the Gen-G protests on 8th and 9th September, 2025.

Following the Gen-G movement, countries including Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar have also started tightening visa requirements. According to the Nepal Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Association, other Gulf countries including Malaysia have also started tightening visa requirements.

The Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Association says that after the UAE, countries including Malaysia, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia have stopped issuing easy visas. “They have been asking for various documents for the past two or three days.”

According to the association, they are also demanding immediate police reports. Some are also being rejected. The UAE has completely banned visit visas and has also been tightening restrictions on working visas.

It is reported that these countries have tightened visa requirements, fearing that prisoners who escaped from prisons after the Genji Movement could enter their countries. However, these countries have not provided any official information about this.
