Indefinite curfew imposed in Birgunj

PARSA:- The District Administration Office, Parsa, has imposed an indefinite curfew in Birgunj Metropolitan City citing the deteriorating security situation.

According to a notice issued by Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal, the curfew came into effect at 9:45 am today and will remain in place until further notice.

The administration said the curfew was enforced in view of the prevailing security concerns. Movement of individuals within the designated area has been strictly prohibited. All forms of assembly, rallies, demonstrations, meetings and sit-ins have also been banned.

The restricted zone extends from Bypass Road in the east to the Sirsiya River in the west, Gandak Chowk in the north, and Shankaracharya Gate in the south.

However, the administration stated that essential services will be facilitated during the curfew period. Ambulances, fire engines, hearses, health workers, journalists, examinees and staff attending pre-scheduled examinations, tourist vehicles, vehicles belonging to human rights organizations and diplomatic missions, as well as passengers with air tickets, will be allowed to operate as necessary.

The administration has urged the public to comply fully with the curfew order, refrain from spreading rumors, and cooperate in maintaining law and order. The curfew will remain in force until the security situation returns to normal, the notice said.
