HoR meeting commences amid Shram Sanskriti Party protests

KATHMANDU:- Lawmakers from the Shram Sanskriti Party have staged a protest during today’s session of the House of Representatives, the lower house of the Federal Parliament. As the meeting began, party members, including Chairman Harkaraj Rai, stood up from their seats and displayed ‘placards’ opposing the government.

When they approached the Speaker’s well, they were halted by the House staff. In response to the party’s demonstration, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal remarked that the method of protesting in the House by displaying leaflets contravenes parliamentary norms and dignity. He instructed that such protests should not occur in the future.

The party had previously boycotted the meeting on May 14 due to Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s absence to address the issues raised during the discussion on the policies and programmes of the government for the upcoming fiscal year.

Today’s agenda includes discussions on the principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill for the upcoming fiscal year, the reshuffling of members of the Working Arrangements Consultative Committee, the submission of the report from the House of Representatives Rules Drafting Committee, and the appropriation bill for the next fiscal year.
