Home Minister’s decision to move forward with investigation into palace massacre

KATHMANDU:- Newly appointed Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has arrived at the Home Ministry in Singha Durbar and assumed office. Speaking to media persons during his tenure, Home Minister Gurung expressed his commitment to open the files of old and famous scandals and bring the investigation to a conclusion.

Home Minister Gurung has taken the first important decision to reopen the file of the infamous palace massacre that took place in 2058 BS, (June 1, 2001) and move forward with the investigation process. In addition, he has signed a decision to make the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) stronger and more resourceful and to conclude all the investigation processes currently under investigation expeditiously.

Commenting on the question about the allegations against him, Home Minister Gurung said, “I have been accused without any facts. I can bear any accusations made against me, but I will never tolerate the suffering and injustice done to Nepali girls.”

Referring to the media, Gurung said, “Everyone should be aware that no one should commit suicide under pressure just because of a media trial.” He expressed the view that he should strive to make the home administration transparent, accountable, and citizen-friendly.
