Gagan Thapa resigns Nepali Congress President

KATHMANDU:- Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has resigned from his post. President Thapa submitted his resignation letter to Vice President Bishwaprakash Sharma on Wednesday.

According to a party official, the resignation will be discussed at the central committee meeting to be held tomorrow. The resignation letter he submitted has not been made public yet.

The central committee meeting called for 1 pm on Friday will decide whether to accept the resignation or not.

President Thapa resigned from the post, taking moral responsibility after the defeat in the House of Representatives election. He was defeated from Sarlahi-4 in the election held on March 5th.

After the election results, criticism towards him was increasing within the party and there were even demands for his resignation.
