First phase of voting underway in RSP’s first general convention

CHITWAN:-  Voting is underway under the first general convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). Voting began last night to select new party office bearers (members). The first phase of voting will be held until 12:00 noon today, according to the party’s Central Election Commission.

So far, more than 1,600 representatives have exercised their franchise. According to the head of the commission, Bhuwan KC, 384 candidates have registered their candidacies in the first phase of the central member election. Of these, 210 have filed candidacies for the open category and 174 for the geographical category. Five will be elected from one province. 35 will be elected from seven provinces, while 210 have registered their candidacies for the 64 open categories.

According to Chief KC, 18 candidates have filed their candidacies in Sudurpaschim Province, 20 in Madhes Province, 31 in Lumbini Province, 20 in Koshi Province, 31 in Karnali Province, 27 in Bagmati Province, and 27 in Gandaki Province.

The candidacies are for ninety-nine central members. Voting is ongoing at the Exhibition Center of the Nepal Industry Association, Chitwan. The results of the first round of voting will be announced within two hours after the end of the first round. The second round of voting will begin with the announcement of the results. In the second round, all representatives will vote for the office bearers.
