KATHMANDU:- Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel, has stated that the current government, founded on the Gen-Z protests (September 8-9), has a primary mandate to conduct the upcoming election with the participation of all political parties and citizens on the announced date.
Speaking at a programme held following his visit to the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) Central Office in Bhadrakali today, the Minister called on all stakeholders to cooperate in creating a conducive environment for the election to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 5, 2026.
He said that Prime Minister Sushila Karki, on behalf of the government, has already pledged to uphold the election mandate, and stressed the need for building an appropriate atmosphere to ensure its success. The Minister expressed hope for strong support from the media in this regard.
“This government, founded on the Gen-Z protests, was formed with the consensus of all political parties and the will of the people. It enjoys broad civic support. The election is a collective aspiration of both the political parties and the citizens. The Election Commission has already published the official schedule of the election,” he said, expressing confidence that the RSS would play a constructive role in fostering the election environment.
Minister Kharel, who also serves as the government spokesperson, further stated, “In addition to preparing for the election, this government is also mandated to ensure good governance, combat corruption, investigate the loss of lives and property during the Gen-Z protests, and provide relief and rehabilitation following recent natural disasters.” He reiterated the government’s commitment to fulfilling these responsibilities.
The government spokesperson also noted that both direct and indirect political dialogues are underway to help build a stronger and more favourable environment for the upcoming election. (RSS)
