Curfew duration extended in Birgunj

BIRGUNJ:- The curfew imposed in Birgunj metropolitan city by the District Administration Office (DAO), Parsa, in response to the ongoing Gen Z demonstrations, has been extended. Initially enforced from 9:00 pm on Monday until 9:00 am today, the curfew will now remain in effect until 6:00 pm today.

According to the DAO, the extension was deemed necessary due to escalating security concerns.

Chief District Officer Toyaram Subedi stated that the order was issued under Clause 6(A) of the Local Administration Act, 2028 BS. It restricts all forms of rallies, demonstrations, assemblies, meetings, and blockades within the Birgunj metropolitan area, specifically in the following locations: Bypass Road to the east, Sirsiya Bridge to the west, Gandak Chowk to the north, and Shankaracharya Gate to the south .  (RSS)
