Congress, UML taking away Non Residential Nepalese citizenship right

LOS ANGELES- Rastriya Prajatantra Party, (PP) spokesperson and Nepal’s federal parliament member Gyanendra Shahi has accused the Congress, UML and Maoists of taking away the citizenship of descendants of Nepalis living abroad.

Interacting with the Nepali community in Southern California on Saturday, MP Shahi said, “During the active rule of the king, non-resident Nepalis received citizenship of descent, including the right to vote, but after the 2063 BS movement, the citizenship of descent of Nepalis living abroad was taken away.”

Shahi emphasized, “Stop carrying the burden of the Congress, UML, and Maoists who are taking away the citizenship of your birthright descendants. Support us, we will return the citizenship of your birthright that was taken away from you.”

Shahi said, “The NRN card is a piece of wastage paper, don’t confuse it with a lollipop too.”

Nepali American activist Kapil Adhikari said that the purpose of holding an interaction with MP Gyanendra Shahi was to awaken the Nepali community in America in the movement for the continuation of Nepali citizenship.

In an interaction jointly organized by Kapil Adhikari and Uttam Jung Thapa, speakers including Consul General Rishi Punakhar Dhakal indorse  the problems of Nepalis living abroad.

The interaction program was inaugurated by social worker Gyanendra Gurung, and the program was chaired by Nepali-American activist Kapil Adhikari.
